Hilderinc FC’s mortifying start to the EFL Saturday league continues to stutter as they come to terms with the chastening truth that mistakes and inexperience will undermine any positive efforts, even with the campaign at the in its infancy.

While it was no secret that the season came earlier than being ready for, but repeated ineptitude to eradicate outrageous recurring mistakes, and the inability to comprehend responsibilities and purge old infuriating habits, this despite getting drilled in training, is cause of incomparable exasperation and frustration, though the Blacks cling to every ounce of positivity that they will indeed turn the corner, but more than formations and tactics, it is going to take collective paradigm shift of minds and deeds.

Save for the opening quarter, when the Hilderincs did ask questions of the British, things started to unravel when forced changes were made when Lauren Larking, achieving her venture into both the Hilderinc men’s sides, and Basil Chai, who picked up an injury, were withdrawn, causing a seismic imbalance from which they never recovered.

Exhibiting gross greenhorn and juvenile traits, the Blacks found themselves 3-0 down in the first half, with an own goal added to the account, along with an abject defending of a routine corner.

If any sort of response was planned for the second period, it was ripped to pieces almost immediately after the restart when an all so familiar, but incensing, immature blunder put the Hilderincs further adrift, and if scaling a mountain was going to be tough enough, they now had to do it in a spacesuit.

Deficient in basic fitness levels, it was a labouring chase after shadows for the remaining of the game as the Blacks continued to discomfit themselves, though valiant efforts from the older ones, notably, Truong Chi Duc, provided some solace, but inadequacy in vigour from the youthful was utterly substandard.

Belatedly, a shift in shape, especially with Lauren Larkin pushing further up the pitch provided some positive points for conversation, but would be something for the future, rather than anything that would ease the anguish of an abject day out.

Clichés of better days aside, there is a need for an uncompromising response, which might entail some discomfort, but persevered, it could very well be the shot in the arm the Hilderincs need.
