Erdogan Albay, HFC Player of the Season
With Hilderinc FC already completed their Division 3 fixtures in a rather short campaign, and having also being in preparation to return to pre-season friendlies next week, the Club has taken the initiative to announce the HFC end of season awards ahead of schedule, even while the ESPZEN Saturday League 18 has yet to be officially concluded.
Erdogan Albay, the versatile midfielder come up tops in the HFC Player of Season race, with his inspiration performances in a wretchedly curious campaign.
Always giving his maximum, coupled with audacious and defiant skills, the favourite German, who also turned up for Hilderinc Twā on Sundays, was always a sight to behold when he was in his elements.
Though he will be returning back home at the end of this month, Erdo has found his place in the pantheon of Hilderinc’s finest.
The HFC Top Scorer award was won by a player who missed the entire half of the season, and whose absence was a hammer blow for the Blacks in more than one ways.
Stepan Lobov, HFC Top Scorer
Stepan Lobov, the “on-loan” forward was a masterclass in front of goal, netting eleven goals in the eight league and friendly games he played before returning back to Russian in November 2017, when the Hilderincs’ travails began as they struggled to replace him in any form or shape, and it is certain that the season would have panned out differently had he remained.
There were double winners in this season’s HFC Players’ Player category, an award given to the player(s) with the most man of the match, as voted by his peers.
Diogo Baptista and Sunny Tharidu, two of the Club’s many committed players, were exemplary on the pitch, as they earned the plaudits for some eye-catching displays.
Diogo Baptista, HFC Players' Player
Diogo, who made himself a mainstay in the heart of the Hilderinc midfield since his debut in the 4-3 win against ORD FC in October 2017, often baffled even the well-weathered teammates with his nonchalance to the sweltering heat without ever dropping pace, as he worked hard.
Defender turned goalkeeper, Sunny, was a world apart this season as he willing took his place between the sticks for the team’s cause, with his superhuman reflex saves, so much so that a compilation of his shot stopping might replace the usual goal of the season contest.
Sunny Tharidu, HFC Players' Player
Debuting this season, the HFC Most Valuable Player award has been added to the prize list, honouring the player who was most influential as a positive element within the team.
Dionisis Kolokotsas, the veteran Greek, was not only a calming presence in defence, he was also the big brother figure to everyone, often the first to run up the pitch to congratulate a scorer or to always offer a consoling arm after a mistake or defeat.
Dionisis Kolokotsas, HFC Most Valuble Player
Hilderinc Football Club wishes to thank Erdogan Albay, Stepan Lobov, Diogo Baptista, Sunny Tharidu and Dionisis Kolokotsas for their outstanding contributions this season, along with all the other unsung Heroes who were peerless with their commitment and efforts to the Hilderincs!
