Impoverished Hilderincs Succumb After First Half Heroics

Posted on March 13, 2023 at 12:35 AM

With an absentee list longer than the matchday squad, Hilderinc Twā, hit by couple withdrawals hours before kickoff, were left facing the mammoth task with just a substitute goalkeeper and an injured youngster on a difficult afternoon.

So dire was the situation that the Hilderincs had to beseech Calvin Chaim and Mohd Fadhzil, two of the Hilderinc Socials who had arrived early from their 5pm session to add much needed help to relieve exhausted limps as the game progressed.

Contrary to the expected doom and gloom, the Blacks were pushing beyond their weight as they looked anything but a makeshift hotchpotch motely crew as they took to game to their opponents with an admirable start.

Responding to the critical lack in options, and with zero centrebacks, the Sunday Hilderincs opted to deploy three midfielders in the heart of the defence, along with Nicolo Yang, having made his debut for the Saturday Blacks a day earlier as a forward, was tasked as a wingback, in an adventurous, but in truth a highly wild formation.

Incredibly, the Blacks reacted to the audacious lineup and made one of their best starts to a game, considering the circumstances, by controlling the earlier exchanges.

Unfortunate not race to a two-goal lead after improvised wingback, Nicolo, found himself in the box, but both his shots narrowly found the side netting instead.

With lion share of the possession, the Hilderincs were highly aggrieved not to be awarded a penalty for a discernible handball, quiet curiously, a similar shout was turned away for the Blacks 24hours earlier.

Even when they went 2--0 down against the run of play to couple of highly preventable goals, the Hilderincs were focused and stoic about their task and kept prodding relentlessly.

However, with the lack of ready cover, and fatigue settling in, the Hilderincs were left wanting, and were rendered easy picking, though in a show of defiance, they pulled a goal back through the imperious Lim Yang Shan, who took on the entire St David’s backline before finding the bottom corner.

While the final scoreline was punishing, nothing can be held against the Twās, who despite severely disadvantaged, put in the spirit to try.
