With the conclusion of a long drawn ESPZEN Saturday 19 season, which kicked off in November 2018, Hilderinc Football Club has announced the winners of their End of the Season Awards.
HFC Player of the Season
Following the departure of the irreplaceable Cristian Peligros, who swept all the individual awards last campaign, the Club made the bold decision to move Michal “Mika” Michalowski from his initial centreback role to fill the void left by the big Spaniard to spearhead the frontline.
Notwithstanding his age, the youngster made an instant impact in his new role as he drove the team with high-temp performance, even when he was called upon to stand-in in defence and midfield.
Though his national service commitments restricted him towards the season run-in, his personal contest with Nico Olvera for the top price was nail-biting with the KPI changing each week.
HFC Top Scorer of the Season
Nico Olvera, though he missed out on the Player of the Season crown by inches, his exceptional goal scoring feat can only be bettered by one other player in the Club’s history.
Despite playing in a more withdrawn role in the latter stages, his almost a goal a game, and important goals played a key part in the Hilderincs’ title challenge and eventual promotion.
Though he is expected to play deeper, he will certainly be amongst the goals in the coming campaign as well.
HFC Players’ Player of the Season
An award given to the player with the most number of man of the match in a campaign the title has been shared for the second time since its inception as Diogo Baptista and Mika Michalowski jointly claim the prize.
It is the second time achievement for Diogo Baptista, who shared the award with Sunny Tharidu back in League 18.
The popular Portuguese, a mainstay in the side since his debut two years ago, has also given nothing but his best on the pitch and it has always a wonder that he can maintain high-level energy throughout the game, even on the hottest of days.
Claiming his second award on his debut season, Mika Michalowski can been seen as a future of the Club and has already displayed the characteristics of a Hilderinc, which has been recongised by his fellow Blacks in the course of the campaign.
Most Valuable Player of the Season
Inaugurated two seasons ago to honour the player who was most influential as a positive element within the team over the season, both on and off the pitch, and can claim Dionisis Kolokotsas and Sunny Tharidu as past luminaries of the award.
Adi Ravikumar, a leftback machine now adds himself to the highly esteemed company with his commitment to the Club while he was playing and even when he was not.
Apart from his monstrous defending and goal assists while playing, keeping constant tab on the welfare of the team and its progress even not involved was always appreciated but turning up for a game with an injury and luggage on tow with a flight scheduled, just in case the team needed him was a magnanimous act that will surely top the bill to receive the honours.
Hilderinc Football Club wishes to thank Mika Michalowski, Nico Olvera, Diogo Baptista and Adi Ravikumar for their outstanding contributions this season and while they will be honoured in the upcoming Anniversary and Awards Ceremony on 27th July, the Club will also take time to value all the other unsung Heroes who were peerless with their commitment and efforts throughout the season and beyond!
