ESPZEN Saturday League 19 2018 Division 3 Champions!
It was a momentous and significant night for Hilderinc Football Club who celebrated their first ever league title with their inaugural Awards’ Night on Saturday evening.
Previously held on a modest scale at frequented watering-holes, posh surroundings of the Central Business District (CBD) at V on Shenton was the fitting venue as the jubilant Hilderincs marked the grand occasion in style, courtesy of host Omar Mahnin.
Having food and beverage in abundant supply, the Blacks and their guests, numbering past the 30 were in joyous mood as they kept the lively evening going spontaneously before the commencement of the evening’s main event, though the arrival of the ESPZEN representative with the Saturday League Division 3 trophy caused a stir for the cameras.
With representatives from The Netherlands and Club sponsors, Numidia gracing the ceremonies, there was anticipation as the awards handed out after the heartfelt speeches by HFC Secretary Gopal Peethamabaran and President Simon Khaw.
The excitement grew even more as induvial Blacks who contributed immensely to the successful campaign received their winner’s medal from the Club President and Secretary, building the eagerness for the presentation of Champions’ trophy.
Then, finally after 18 years of near misses and heartbreak, all the past memories well instantly replaced when the league trophy was lifted aloft by Nicholas Ledenmark, a symbolic act for a successful future ahead.
Next on agenda were the annual HFC Player Awards, which have been given since 2012 to honour each season’s key individual performer, and there was only one name that dominated this year, as Cristian Peligros made a clean sweep of things, while Sunny Tharidu was recognised for his contributions too.
With the event into the free and easy second half, there was even time for a well-executed pool tossing, which was worked to perfection by the planners of the move; however, on the positive for the “victim” of the celebration, it washed all the beer that was poured onto him prior to the finishing.
Such was the excellent vibe and energy that majority of the Blacks were oblivious to the almost two hour “injury time” that the event had gone into, but it certainly laid the foundation for the Hilderincs to look forward to an even more glorious future to come.
Hilderinc Football Club wishes to thank all players, supporters, friends, corporate partners and sponsors for an excellent season as we start planning and working for greater success.
