A lackluster Hilderincs Twā side suffered their third defeat of the current campaign as they fell to Bagan FC, an opponent they had defeated 3-2 earlier on in the season.
Lacking conviction and toughness in their play, the Blacks were unable to match man for man against the Burmese side.
Though for the first time this season, the Twās started on the front foot, pressuring their opponents and having shots on goal, but all the positivity lasted for only twenty minutes and it all went downhill thereafter.
With The Blacks playing a highline at the back, the Burmese were restricted to launching long balls forward, hoping either one of their strikers will latch onto the ball.
And it was this tactic that got Bagan FC the opening goal when a long punt from the keeper found their left winger free, and with HTFC’s defence going to sleep, he was allowed time and space to slip the ball down the middle for their striker to slot it into the bottom of the net.
The Blacks started the second half with much more positivity, drawing level 10mins into the second half after a great pass down the middle released Rahmat Saring on goal; and with confusion in the Burmese defence, the livewire winger was fouled inside the box.
Stepping up to take the spotkick himself, the forward made no mistake and he levelled the score.
However, the equaliser only galvanised the Burmese, and they were on top of the Blacks in every aspect of their game from then on.
Their hard work paid off, and not taking any credit away from them, they got the winning goal via a wicked deflection off David Zheng.
Good work down the left flank saw the Burmese wriggled their way into the penalty box, and as the attacker dragged ball across the goal, David Zheng was unfortunate to be at the wrong place wrong time, deflecting the ball with his trailing leg to help is into the bottom corner.
The Blacks then went forward in search of the equaliser but it was rather comfortable for Bagan FC in all honesty, as they calmingly saw out the match, claiming all three points, leaving the Blacks to recoup and recover to fight another day.
